Your Geek
Back to the full guide
It prints on one page, in large type, without the website around it. Write your phone number in the blank before you give it to them.
What it is
A helper on your computer.
It keeps an eye out for scams.
It shows you how to do things.
You are in charge.
It will tell you one of three things
| What it says | What it means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| All good | Nothing worrying. | Carry on. |
| Be careful | Something looks a bit odd. | Read what it says. Take your time. |
| Stop and check | This looks like a scam. | Do not click or type. Read the next part. |
It will never ask you for
a password, a code, or money.
Something may say it is your Geek and ask for these.
Then it is a scam. Close it. Call your family.
Your Geek never takes control of your computer.
When the screen says "Let's pause for a second"

- Read what it says. It is short.

- I understand, continue: only if you are sure.
Not sure? Press "Ask my family", or phone them.

To turn it off and on
- The X only hides it. It is still watching.
- To open it again, click its small yellow face. It sits near the clock, bottom right.
- To turn it off: click its face with the right mouse button. Press Quit (stops protection).
- To turn it on: click twice, quickly, on I Need My Geek. It is on your main screen. It also starts by itself with the computer.
- To remove it for good: tell your family, or write to us.
You can do this whenever you want. You need nobody's permission.
